Wet Monkey misses muddle for shampoo and set!
This has to be one of the oddest titles since writing this blog several years ago. However, it doesn’t actually matter as confusion rules the day and any title will do. Consequently, the book of nature suggests quiet preparation as today’s theme and recommends having a haircut, sweeping up or fixing cracks in walls and floors as the best course of action.
Muddles occur due to this being a Water Monkey day in a Water Dragon year and with no middle member of this water element group, communication breaks down. Interestingly the water element also represents travel and this may be affected too. It may therefore be prudent to allow extra time for travelling and remember our blog should you see any break downs.
The missing member of the group is the Rat which connects the beginning part of Monkey with the end bit of Dragon. Wise monkey speaks no evil even after teatime tipple
Today’s Water Monkey could be considered as wise, a key trait of the water element. So too is communication and I chose to include todays well-known saying as it lent itself to both aspects.
Teatime refers to the Monkey hour, which ranges from 3pm to 5pm and if you were born between these times, you would have a Monkey in your Chinese horoscope. “Tipple” is defined as sipping alcohol, which is one of the suitable activities recommended by today’s Chinese almanac. Of course they disguise it as drinking or making wine and not getting totally twisted by drinking irresponsibly. Also favourable for today is bathing, having a haircut, buying or making clothes, refurbishing an office, or setting up a tombstone.

Moon Monkey hears no evil
Elaborate title I know, but today is a full moon; blood rises and increases brain activity, so that should make the title easier to decipher. Let's begin with the only zodiac sign mentioned - the Monkey day. But which of the five types is it? Both the Moon and the Ear are associated with the water element. The wise monkey could "hear no evil", so it must be a Water Monkey day. Incidentally, wisdom is also associated with the water element.
If Water Monkey is in your chart, especially as the day (find your chart with our Free Chinese horoscope) you can be extremely prosperous in middle age. If you are born in August, November or December, you will have abundance throughout your life. This would produce a very affluent lifestyle as you like comforts and being pampered. There is a tendency for people to tell you what you want to hear but if you always follow your instincts, should not create any problems. Famous Water Monkeys include Rosanna Arquette, Jack Black, James Cameron, Elvis Costello, Melinda Gates, Joe Jonas, Lil' Romeo, Edward Norton, Matthew Perry, Erik Schrody, Christian Slater, Adam Yauch.
The Chinese Almanac, the major book of nature and natural events, recommends pampering yourself or fixing your path and walls as suitable activities today. It advises against opening a water course or realigning your bed.
Monkeys will probably be the most spoiled or pampered today and they will find it easy to relax and do nothing. Roosters will have to wait until tomorrow to develop their plans. Male Tiger signs may suffer from pressure this afternoon, whilst female Tigers may have issues with their partners. Earth males of Dragon, Sheep, Dog and Ox are lucky in love today; Earth females should be lucky with money. Horse and Snake signs are lucky in both love and money, whilst Pig and Rat signs are full of energy and can find good advice should they need it today.

Today is known as the “year break” as the Water Monkey clashes with the annual qi of Tiger making today unsuitable for most things, except cleaning house or trimming trees or shtubs.
Normally Tigers would be stressed on a Monkey day but as they are supported by the annual qi, Monkeys may suffer instead. Rooster, the other metal element sign may suffer setbacks. Rat and Pig signs are full of energy, Rabbits should feel powerful, Snake and Horse are in the money and Dragon, Goat, Dog and Ox can be both relaxed and creative.

Today being a Water Monkey day led me to expand on the water element definition by calling it a sea monkey and try to inject some humour into an otherwise potentially stressful day. This is due to a clash with the annual qi making today unsuitable for most things, except cleaning house and seeing a doctor.
