Luck returns National Treasure on Horse power?
Today's Metal Horse, when viewed in isolation is probably the most powerful of the five types of Chinese Horses in the zodiac. Old grey mare ain’t what she used to be, so sees an acupuncturist, then goes hunting!
You need a very special book to accommodate a title like the one above. Luckily, we have one that has survived the test of time and even Chinese Emperor’s tendencies to burn books to establish their own doctrine and tenets.
It is sometimes known as the book of nature or farmer’s almanac, but is more commonly referred to as the Tong Shu or Tong Sing. This latter name translates as “everybody wins” and regardless of whether you believe in it or not, was read by everyone, from Emperors to farmers and peasants. It has been published annually, reputedly for the past 18oo years at least.
Today its calendar tells us it is a Metal Horse day, hence the reference to grey, the colour associated with the metal element, whilst a mare is of course, a female horse. Every day it tells us the “winning” activities to be involved in and it shouldn’t come as a surprise that today is a good day to see an acupuncturist or go hunting, presumably as a result of the treatment providing increased vitality.
Vitality is the essence of today’s title as “The Old Grey Mare Ain’t What She Used To Be” is an old folk song, based upon the extraordinary performance of a horse named “Lady Suffolk”, the first horse to run a mile in less than two and a half minutes. It occurred on 4 July 1843 at the Beacon Course racetrack in Hoboken, New Jersey, when she was more than ten years old.
Hmm, something to contemplate upon, as meditation is another good activity for today.

Horsing around at heavens embrace
Today is a Metal Horse day and the shape associated with the metal element is round. I know its stretching the realms of possibilities to change round to a round = around, get it? I could add that as metal comes before the horse; I need to move the words around to validate today’s title. However, I just like the sound of it and I hope you do too.
Heavens embrace is much easier to accept, as it refers to a special combination that occurs between a Horse and the Sheep, this month’s animal sign, so normally it is auspicious. However, today is a “Closed” day; only good for settling matters, which makes it a good day for funeral duties, including setting up a tombstone. In ancient times, this involved finding the ideal site where the water and mountain dragon could embrace and qi could be directed to predecessors via the tombstone. It is a practice still used today and called Yin feng shui.
The Chinese almanac also recommends making and drinking wine responsibly, fixing paths, filling cracks in walls, shifting earth and making funeral attire, which you could also take as buying clothes.

I couldn’t decide whether to pay respects to Boon, Jeff Beck or the Lone Ranger in today’s title, so I decide to mention them all on this Metal Horse day. It is not a particular auspicious day, so we should take any smile where we can get it.
Due to a controlling influence between the Metal and Horse elements, we can expect lots of arguments relating to authority. However, the earth element can balance this relationship and wearing earth related colours, such as brown, beige, yellow, cream and terracotta can help. Similarly, the Chinese almanac states today are only good for cooking and fixing paths or walls. In view of this; sweet tastes and cement appear on today's menu.

Today being a Metal Horse day and the metal element being associated with the colours of white and gray, I have chosen to name today after a well-known UK pub. This is just as well as according to the Chinese almanac this “Close” day is suitable to brew and ferment. It is also good to fix walls and fill cracks, prepare burial clothes and set up a grave, so after redecorating, mind how you travel back from a public house.
Horse is a friend of the annual Tiger, and if you have just a Dog in your horoscope this will form a very strong fire combination with these signs. See our attribute cycle for its effects on you.
