Take action in Rat race cycleToday is a Fire Rat day and as the rat is the first sign in the Chinese zodiac, its appearance always heralds a new cycle. Fire represents action and the height of energy and can also indicate passion, laughter and joy, which bodes well for global decisions and those taking an official post on the world stage.
Laughter and joy are continued within the book of nature which is said to be smiling on this highly auspicious day. It recommends meditation or honouring ancestors, asking for blessings, visiting friends, travelling, getting engaged, getting married, exchanging gifts, having an astrology reading, emigrating, signing contracts, opening a business and trading, refurbishing a home or office, laying foundations, fixing a roof, setting feng shui bed directions and hunting as ideal pursuits today.
A Rat day in a Dragon year is very auspicious and even more so if your personal horoscope has a Monkey sign. To discover if you have one, try our free feng shui Chinese horoscope and it could be a very memorable day indeed.
We will return tomorrow on a Fire Ox day.
Being a Fire Rat day in a Rabbit month doesn’t bode too well. It’s not just because there isn’t a lot of love between these signs, the Rabbit feels punished by the Rat and the latter may feel drained by our long eared friend. In addition, the Yang Fire of today clashes with the annual Yang Water sign. However, being a “Ghost” day in the 28 Lunar Mansion or moon phase, may make us wish that tomorrow comes sooner than normal.
Days that are ruled by “Ghosts” are unfavourable and any new projects can end in misfortune. Women that marry on a Ghost day are said to be widows longer than they are wives. But prayers for the dead, memorial services and visits to cemeteries to visit the tombs of ancestors will bring great merit and respect, and honours to one’s descendants.
That said, it isn’t all bad and according to the 12 daily palaces, it’s a “Gather” day. This makes commerce or trade successful, especially for hairdressers, so it’s also good for haircuts. With a well-crafted “barnet”, we should organise matters of a joyful nature so that the time will quickly pass, so says the Chinese almanac.
On the subject of time, we have lots to do next week and our blog which would normally return on Tuesday will be postponed until our next respite, perhaps not until after Easter.
However, we will still update our web site daily.
Now that’s a title you don’t hear every day! What does it mean? Well firstly it is a Fire Rat day and every rat day starts a new twelve day cycle in the Chinese zodiac. Having five different types of rats we can classify these cycles according to the element preceding Rat. That makes today the start of a fire cycle. So there you go, no animals were hurt in the writing of this blog.
As the fire element can be likened to action these next twelve days should see lots of activity on the world stage. It is definitely time to put plans into action. Following this theme the Chinese almanac suggests most activities are favourable today, especially travelling, getting engaged, having a haircut, sweeping house, buying or making clothes, seeing a doctor or choosing a treatment, emigrating, opening a business and trading, refurbishing a home or office, moving earth, fixing a roof, buying or setting direction for your door, bed or oven, or else setting up a tombstone.
In the twenty eight lunar mansions today is an Astride day better for garments that it is for digging. To see how your own sign is affected today see our dedicated Fire Rat web page. We will return tomorrow on a Fire Ox day.
Until then, enjoy NOW!
Rare Red Rat runs rampant raising stakes and dedicating statues It is a Fire Rat day and as you will know, red is the colour associated with the fire element. It also relates to action and sports, the running aspect in today’s title. Mondays Chinese almanac recommended raising pillars or stakes and today it suggests dedicating them, along with meditating and having a haircut. That is about all that is good today.
Generally, Rat signs being of the water element, do not prosper in July and are pretty rare. On one level, their qi is imprisoned and on another it is called a “harm”. If Fire rat is part of your horoscope, and you can find out here free Chinese horoscope, you can overcome any problems with the wood element. When properly balanced, the Fire Rat is the most powerful of the Rat signs and if found in the day pillar, denotes a period of recognition between the ages of 30 to 45 years. For females with this sign, it also indicates romance and marriage. Famous Red Rats include Alan Alda, Ursula Andress, Silvio Berlusconi, Glen Campbell, David Carradine, Bruce Dern, Jim Henson, Dennis Hopper, Kris Kristofferson, Robert Redford, Burt Reynolds, Yves Saint-Laurent, Mary Tyler Moore and Bill Wyman.
The Rat marks the start of a new cycle of animal signs or as they are professionally known Earthly Branches. Although they have romantic personality traits , when used as month signs they actually track the rise and fall of energy via the five elements throughout a year.
Another cycle that runs concurrently is the 24 Chinese seasons of which yesterday began Great Cold which happens to be the 24th. This cycle tracks natural phenomenon and as such, it can be used to see how global warming is affecting our current climate. This 15 day period denotes the coldest time of the year in the Northern hemisphere and if we count the days between yesterday and our next cold spell, you can see just how much we are affected locally by this planetary phenomenon.
On the subject of climate, this Fire Rat day brings warmth and friendship to the Rat, who together with the Pig can enjoy romance, plans coming to fruition and wealth opportunities. Metal element signs of Monkey and Rooster can be positively inspired or can relax and take things more easily, whilst their women can experience romance. Money luck also comes to the earth signs of Dragon, Sheep, Dog even moreso for Ox
Today Tiger is well supported, but the Rabbit may be punished, the Horse may also have a tough time and would benefit from the wood element, Meanwhile, Snake has power and may be prominent.
The Chinese almanac says today is good for meditating, pampering, buying clothes, collecting debts, trading, fermenting or drinking wine (responsibly) and making funeral arrangements.
