Feng Shui Question

Feng Shui tip

"Enhance the north sector in the southwest room of your home to meet someone at work".

feng shui lovesQ "Dear Alan
I understand that you can place the bagua over your entire house & map it out - I also understand that then you can do each individual room. How does one do that? Don't they conflict? I am trying to enhance my career if I put enhancements in the career area of my house & then do individual rooms - lets say where my relationship area of my house and I then do that room to enhance my career. How does the energy know in what direction to go in? Does that make sense"?

Hi, Yes I understand you perfectly, you are referring to what is known as the macrocosm (in this instance that's the house) and the microcosm, the room. When you change one it affects the other, that's how you can use both. If you are at all worried then just use the whole floor area.

Q Dear Alan,
I have recently moved back home to my parents on a temporary basis. I used to have my own flat and applied feng shui cures to the relevant areas in my flat. Now that I am at my parents I do not feel as if it is MY home.. The only place that I feel is my own personal space is in my bedroom. I was wondering is it possible to have all the certain areas (career area, wealth, relationship etc..) in one confined space such as my bedroom? is it possible to divide my bedroom into the various areas? as it feels odd placing things in the house because it does not feel like my home.

Hi Judy, Yes you should do this, because this is what we do for a families children anyway, for exactly the reasons that you stated above. It works because it has a macrocosm / microcosm relationship. So have fun!

Feng Shui Question

Feng Shui tip

"As your car is now a high tech environment, drinks lots of water to flush the EMF effects from your body ".

feng shui for carsQ Alan, I've heard that you can Fung Shui cars. Is there any truth in this, and how would one go about doing this?

No I am sorry, in traditional Chinese feng shui you cant do this. However in the American version called Black hat you can, its based on the power of the positive mind, so if you believe you can, then it works.
To apply it you would use the Black Hat Ba Gua it divides the car into 9 equal sections, so draw a tick tack toe grid over the floor plan the area. At the middle bottom of this grid is the career area, running clockwise the next area is self development, elders, bosses help etc., wealth, fame, relationships, creativity, networking, the middle section if for health. These areas represent different aspects of your life, so if you want to manifest something just place something that symbolises your desire in the relevant area, and just believe that its working.

Feng Shui Question

Feng Shui tip
"Drape fabric along the beam in a stylish manner and this will absorb air pressure from large beams ".

Q Hi Alan, We have a beautiful coffered ceiling in our master bedroom. These are not beams, but symmetrical wood decoration in the original design of the old home we live in. The ceiling is flat. Is there an energy problem with this? Thanks, Linda

Hi Linda,
Feng shui beamsThere is only a problem with beams if they are disproportionately large. This causes a problem with air pressure and results in a hammer type effect, which if you spent many hours underneath them can result in stress to the body. In a normal sized room the beams should not be more that 15-18 inches in depth, that's measured from the ceiling. I hope this helps.

Q Hi, I'd like some help re: the issue of beams on a ceiling in the bedroom. I've read how potentially bad this can be health-wise and relationship-wise. I've read that bamboo flutes and faceted crystals can help in this situation. My question is, how do I place these items? Do I just hang a crystal or two from the beam itself? If I get bamboo flutes, do I hang those on each side of the beam?

Hi,
As this has just been answered in the previous question, let us clear up some confusion regarding supposed cures for beams. Flutes in Chinese are called Changdi, meaning "to raise", this is said to stop a Chinese person worrying about the downward air pressure. As crystals will not change the air pressure , it is best to cover the ceiling in a stylish piece of fabric and this will diffuse the pressure.

Feng Shui Question

Feng Shui tip
"A blanket box, or suitable piece of furniture placed at the foot of the bed, will shield you from the effects of an inline door".

Q hi, My daughter is wondering about the way she faces her bed in her room. She has been told that it is coffin death,to face the end of the bed to the door. I would like to know more about it please
thanx Karen.

feng shui bedroomHi Karen, Yes that's true, its called the "coffin position" because when you die traditionally they carry you through the door feet first. This appears to have been absorbed by the human psyche with the result that anyone sleeping in this position is seriously undermined, fretful, restless and depressed. However a speedy recovery can be made by changing the bed, or by putting in a solid object at the foot of the bed.

Feng Shui Question

Feng Shui tip
"Cover any mirror with fabric if you can see your image in it, when laying in bed. This will help you sleep much better".

mirror tilesQ There are mirror tiles about 3' X 3' above my kitchen sink as there is not a window there. They cannot be removed. I understand this is very bad Feng Shui, however, have not been able to find a cure. What should I do?

Mirrors in this instance, are only negative if you use them for dressing, as the edges are said to cut into your personal energy, or chi. There is no problem if you are using them to reflect light.
A good dressing mirror should have space above and around the body, never use mirrors to reflect anything negative as it will have the opposite effect and raw the negativity to you in the refection.

Feng Shui Question

Feng Shui tip
"
All doors should openly freely in order that beneficial qi can flow through your home. ".

feng shui stairwayQ I heard that a door that faces a stairway is bad feng shui. Is there anything one can do?

Hi,
Actually this it is said to affect your health and wealth because whenever there is a draught, warm air from the house will flow out and cold air will flow in. A door allows a lot of air movement to flow so if you are susceptible to colds and chills, or worried about the cost of your heating bills, then just close it after use.

Doors are considered as “qi mouths” as they admit a large airflow containing energy into a home. As such, they should be able to open freely with nothing impeding its operation. This will ensure that healthy qi flows throughout your space.

Feng Shui Question

Q Is it bad to have a 4 as the first number or somewhere in your home address? If so is there anything you can do to reverse the negative energy?

Hi,
4 is only considered unlucky if you are Chinese because the word sounds like their word for death. It is just superstition so please do not worry about it.

Feng Shui Question

feng shui willow treeQ Hi, Is it unlucky to place willow tree wood inside the house? Someone has said that it is bad feng shui, but would like clarification.
Many thanks for your help - Michelle

Hi Michelle,
Not at all, I think your friend must be confused with having willows trees near a house. This is because they have extremely long roots and use a lot of water. Consequently if planted too close, they may undermine the foundations of the house in their quest for water.

Feng Shui Question

feng shui validation

feng shui loftQ I would like some help with our bedroom. We have a sloped ceiling and also an exposed beam in our bedroom. Is there anything I can do to fix these problems? If we place our bed on the North wall it will be under the beam, but at the highest part of the slant. On the South wall there are two big windows and not enough room for our bed unless it is placed under the windows.

Hi,
The exposed beam is only a problem if it has a depth > 15 inches as this will cause a difference in air pressure. The sloped ceilings cause more of a problem as air molecules are constantly bombarding the angled ceilings and reacting with your body. You can cure this by hanging fabric over the bed which will absorb this energy.
