Annual Chinese astrology

Continued from here By his mid teens he had entered the luck pillar of Yin Earth Ox, (the same energy as that of 1949 with the same effects spread over a 10 year period) where the added confidence gained by his special combination meant that he had firmly decided in favour of the theory of evolution.  Whilst the Yin Earth elements brought power and great recognition and he was tutored by Nobel Prize-winning ethnologist Nikolaas Tinbergen. Consequently, he graduated in 1962 from Balliol College, Oxford and received his M.A. and D.Phil. degrees in 1966 a Yang Fire Horse year. We mention this year, as it is favourable to those who have the Chinese signs of Tiger and Dog in their astrological charts.

His next 10 year horoscope of Yang Earth Rat was highly significant in Chinese astrology terms as it was his first cycle to give him a major root for his day stem. If he has a follow type astrology chart then this period would see him start to put down roots and in 1969 he returned to Oxford University from a 2 year stint as assistant professor at University of California, Berkeley. He wrote his first book in 1976 a Yang Fire Dragon year entitled The Selfish Gene. In Chinese astrology the fire element brings wealth to a Yin Water person, whilst the Dragon brings recognition and power. However, if he was born in a Tiger hour this Dragon branch would have combined with his Rabbit branch and allow him to create an outstanding achievement from this literary work.

During his next 10 year horoscope of Yin Fire Pig where the former element of fire represents wealth and the Pig branch brings a much needed root to his water day stem. The Pig also combines with the Rabbit to make a semi wood element trine and if he has a Tiger hour branch it could also combine with that, both of these aspects enhance his creativity and writing prowess. As a result, Richard wrote two books during this period, the first was in 1982 entitled The Extended Phenotype and The Blind Watchmaker in 1986. He has written a further seven books since then and his latest The Greatest Show on Earth: The Evidence for Evolution was written in his current luck pillar of Yin Wood Rooster which began in 2008. This will be a significant period in his life.
